For all my “let’s go, let’s go let’s go” friends…no need to freak out…we’re still going! Don’t confuse pausing with stagnation…pausing can be a huge asset. (Hey serial procrastinators this is not for you!)
Plain White T’s just wrote a song called “Pause” and some of they lyrics jumped out of the radio at me, getting me to think of how often we’re not where we are, even if we’re there….we’re not really there. (Hang with me here.)
The pause is all about stopping the distractions, shutting down the noise, and even letting go of the bright shiny object. Pause is the space between the reaction and the response…pause gives you the insight, pause gives you the well….a pause….time…time for you.
It’s getting so cliché’ to say I want to “be in the moment.” Let’s get a little clarity on what that actually means…being in the moment isn’t avoidance, it’s not pretending there’s no elephant in the living room (as the sucker grows and is now eating out of your refrigerator), being in the moment isn’t fear (there is no fear in the moment), being in the moment isn’t having to be in control (you know who you are right!). It’s freedom, it’s focus, it’s clarity…..it’s now, it’s calm, it’s a place of being, allowing, watching and noticing. It’s feeling your feet, it’s tasting your coffee, it’s feeling that kiss.
Look at these letters N O W H E R E….what do you see? Nowhere or Now Here?
Where do you want to be?…You get to be here now…because if you’re not “Now Here,” you’re essentially “Nowhere.” It’s time to pause….call a time out.
Cue the music…..”Cuz I don’t want to miss this moment…..And I can’t get it back when its over, I’m gonna hit pause.”
How can you hit Pause?
